The practise of the internal styles is linked to three images that, according to oriental philosophy, symbolize the laws of the universe: the Ying – Yang theory, the 5 elements theory and the theory of the 8 changes.
The interaction of these three symbols is largely described in the book “The King” that forms the basis of the oriental way of life.
This discipline takes advantage of the opponent’s strength, rather than fighting it directly, through slow and circular movements created to develop balance.
The martial essence of the noble art of Thai Chi lies in gentleness, firmness and in strength; it’s very much like a dance, and has been called “the warrior dance”.
These exercises stimulate blood circulation in all organs without altering the heartbeat and the breathing rate. The good state of health produces psychological balance and the result is harmony between mind and body.
Through this refined art of physical exercise, meditation and self defence, it is possible to reach a new feeling of balance and to be in tune with nature.

WHY MARTIAL ART
Thai Chi Chuan was a martial art practised by Taoist monks to develop their physical abilities and to control totally mind , body and energy, ensuring that every gesture was martial.
The slowness of movement allowed them to train every single muscle and every single thought with accuracy and precision, so that their body could become like an iron bar wrapped in cotton.

WHY EXERCISE
Tai Chi movements are slow, harmonious, graceful, so to be easily controlled to avoid joints or muscular sprains; making it suitable for everybody with no age limit.
The gentle movements make joints more agile and ligaments more flexible. Joints’ stiffness is eliminated and the muscles are revitalized by the flow of CHI, or energy.
